Buying a wedding ring requires some other thought, before you buy. For example, do want gold, white gold, platinum? As there are many different styles to choose from, it is best to have some idea of what you seek.
Your next thought should rest on the stone you want set on the ring. Diamond as is known is a girl's best friend, and traditionally represents eternity. There are many other choices that you can make, but the diamond is the most popular stone to have on a wedding ring.
You don't have to buy a diamond ring ready made. In fact you could buy the diamond separate, and get it set on the ring of your choice. This can be a great way to get exactly what you want.
There are some things to consider with getting a ring, and diamond to set. Make sure you think about the shape you want, and also if possible have a look with the jeweler's magnifying glass to see how the diamond looks.
If you want to save money, then keeping note of flaws and inclusions can make a difference in the price. As a diamond has more inclusions, the cheaper it will be. Likewise, if you want a brilliantly diamond with great clarity, you will have to pay more.
There is a scale for measuring clarity that jewelers use, and they are:
F - Which is (Flawless) and has no internal or external inclusions (most expensive).
IF - (Internal Flawless), means internally it has no inclusions or slight internal inclusion.
VVS1-VVS2 - (Very Very Slightly Included) means inclusions, but need 10x magnification to see.
SI1-SI2 - (Slightly Included) invisible to naked eye, but inclusions can be seen with magnification.
I1-I3 - (Included) - inclusions can be seen with the naked eye. This is the cheapest, if you are on a tight budget.
